15-year-old Smash Bros prodigy shocks the world by winning massive P-tier tournament

A 15-year-old Super Smash Bros Ultimate player stunned the world after coming in first at LVL UP EXPO 2025, one of the year’s most stacked tournaments.

‘Doramigi’ may not be a household name when it comes to Smash Ultimate, but that changed on April 27 when the Min Min main made history at the P-Tier event.

Las Vegas’s LVL UP EXPO brought some of the world’s top players to compete for a $10,000 prize pool, including Sparg0, Acola, MkLeo, Zomba, Light, Glutonny and more.

While Doramigi is one of Japan’s top rising talents, there were many others seeded higher than him at the event, which made his surprise win all the more exciting – especially considering that he did it in style.

Doramigi’s run was stellar, never dropping into the losers’ bracket and taking out many of the game’s top players in the process.

To qualify for Top 8, the Min Min downed Faze Sparg0 in a decisive 3-game sweep before besting Luigi upstart Kiyarash in a close 5-game set.

In the winners’ semis, Doramigi pulled off a huge reverse 3-0 after trailing two games against ROB main Zomba.

Finally, in Grand Finals, Doramigi battled Onin, a Steve player with an impressive resume. Up 2-1 in the final set, Doramigi pulled off one of the biggest highlights of his career.

After taking Onin’s first stock in game 4, he got a few hits in, getting the Steve’s damage percentage to 25.4%. At this point, Onin tried to drop an anvil, but Doramigi quickly reflected the move with Min Min’s up smash.

The reflector actually multiplies the damage by 1.8x and as a result, it was able to kill Steve very early on in a move that left commentator EEVisu absolutely speechless.

“What in the hell?!” he cried out moments later after processing what he witnessed.

This isn’t the first time a 15-year-old Japanese player has made waves internationally. Notably, Acola, who finished 33rd at this tournament, emerged as a top star in 2022 after winning the Gimvitational.

Acola would go on to become the top ranked player in the world on multiple occasions – and if this is a sign of things to come, the Smash scene might want to keep an eye on Doramigi, especially with the biggest Ultimate tournament of all time happening at the start of May.
