UPDATE: NateTheHate has followed up on his report with new information. According to him, the announcement and release are bothscheduled for April, with a minimal gap between the two. In fact, ” a shadow drop is possible.”
ORIGINAL STORY: It seems that the long-rumoured and long-awaited Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remake might finally be coming, at least according to fairly reliable insider NateTheHate.
Replying to an X user who asked NateTheHate whether he was expecting any news this month, Nate replied: “Either this month or next month. Release is likely to be sooner than the original June target; but still working to get details on an updated release date.”

VGC has piped in to say that they have corroborated Nate’s claims with their own sources. However, their source claims it may be launched as soon as next month.
An announcement coming soon makes sense, as The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion was released on March 20, 2006, meaning its 19th anniversary is coming up. Wait, 19th anniversary? Jesus, I feel old. It feels like yesterday that I first stepped out of the sewers into the bright, vivid colours of Cyrodiil. I immediately attempted to rob a guard of his horse and armour, and got my arse handed to me. Good times.
As for the rumoured remake/remaster, we’ve been hearing about it for quite some time now. An Oblivion remaster was mentioned back in the famous Nvidia leak. It has reappeared several times since then. Most lately, it popped up on the LinkedIn page of a Virtous employee who mentioned reworked gameplay and various other tidbits of information before quickly deleting the pertinent information.
I have to admit, I’m very excited by the prospect of returning to Oblivion. It was the very first game I got for my Xbox 360 back in the day, and I’ve spent potentially thousands of hours wandering the land, fighting random stuff, killing NPCs and stealing everything that wasn’t nailed down. All hail the Black Hand.
