As much as I loved Sonic’s first foray into 3D gaming in the Sonic Adventure series, there were still parts that I wouldn’t have minded skipping. For example, playing through the Action Stages as Sonic was always fast-paced and exciting, but when the story required me to take a break from the action and help Big the Cat fish for his pet Froggy… well, let’s just say those weren’t my favorite parts. The constantly shifting viewpoints from one character to another meant there were parts of the game I enjoyed more than others, but as the game progressed it became clear that all of these parts worked together to tell one complete story that wouldn’t have been possible if I only played from Sonic’s point of view.
At times it can be hard to understand why the Lord allows us to experience periods of both sunshine and rain, and while there will some parts of our walk with Him that will be full of joy we will all face tribulation as well. Every season we experience is equally important to the story He is telling through our lives, but we may not see how all of these threads will come together to form a perfect tapestry until after His work is completed. He is equally present in our lives in the good times and in the bad, so let’s walk with confidence today that each step we take with Him WILL work together for good in His time.
In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: surely God has appointed the one as well as the other, so that man can find out nothing that will come after him. Ecclesiastes 7:14
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:11-13
