We’ll explain mutations, then the different varieties.
About Mutations
Mutations are special conditions that affect certain single crops. Crops with mutations sell for a higher price than a default crop of the same weight, so obviously that makes them a pretty good thing. There are several different kinds of mutation in the game.
Mutation Types
We’ve currently found three different mutations available in the game as of our last check.
Gold
Increases the sale value of the crop. A relatively common mutation makes the crop look gold and shiny. These appear at random, you don’t need to do anything special to get it. Just make sure to pick it up and sell it.
Wet
Increases the sale value of crops. The Wet mutation is a bit different from other mutations in that it’s going to hit all your crops at once, because it’s tied to events. The Rain event showers the crops with water, giving them the Wet mutation during the event, and for a certain amount of time afterwards.
Rainbow
Greatly increases the sale value of the crop. This mutation can happen to any plant crop at random, you don’t need to do anything special. That said, this mutation only happens very rarely, so you won’t see it too often. The affected crop is surrounded by a rainbow halo and gradually phases through different colors. Pretty!
Chilly
These are fruits that got caught in the snow weather event. They shed little chips of ice, and they’re more valuable at the sell stall. This is another mutation picked up rather than generated at the time the fruit grows.
Frozen
A combination mutation that takes place when a crop with the Wet mutation is caught in the Snow event. This crop becomes encased in ice and gets a massively higher sale price.
Shocking
A rare mutation you can cultivate by placing a Lightning Rod next to your crops. When the Thunder event strikes, lightning should strike the rod, and this should give crops in the area immediately around it the Shocking mutation.
