Despite the popularity of the initial series and surprising success of the rebooted version, did you know that just like Valve, the Star Wars Battlefront series can’t count to three? In both instances, the franchise got to a second installment before fizzling out. In the original series that ran from 2004 to 2005, there was a third game planned before it got scrapped. In the rebooted series, which ran from 2015 to 2017, the dismal launch of the sequel helped bury the idea of a third game.
However, in the years since, the second game has been fixed and has grown quite popular. Beyond this, thanks to the breakout success of the second season of Andor, and Fortnite running a popular season themed entirely around Star Wars , there’s renewed interest in a third game in the Battlefront series series. In fact, a petition has popped up and is amassing an impressive number of signatures. The people want Battlefront 3.

The Star Wars Battlefront 3 Petition Is Gaining Traction
Jump on any social media platform, be it X (Twitter), Instagram, or TikTok and in the comments of any video, whether it’s about Star Wars or not, there are loads of comments asking for Battlefront 3. This is especially common on TikTok. There is a genuine online movement for this unmade game. Plus, players are returning to the latest entry, with Battlefront II’s player count spiking massively in the past few weeks. Recently, Destructoid reported a 218% increase on players on the Steam alone. And given the game was previously free on Epic Games and EA, we’d not be surprised if the true number is even higher.
And with this remarkable shift in popularity, some players have taken to signing an online petition begging EA and Disney to make a third entry in the rebooted series. As of the time of writing, the official Change.org petition has over 12,200 verified signatures. The petition exists to “urge EA Games to develop Star Wars Battlefront 3.” The petition cites EA’s success, thanks in no small part to their Star Wars games, and asks them to repay the fans with a third game in the fan-favorite franchise.
Some fans have begrudgingly pointed out that this is not the first such petition. One fan on the r/battlefront subreddit said they tried this same tactic five years ago and got over 100,000 signatures. Obviously, there’s no third game to show for it. Another pointed out that they tried this, though without an official petition, when the original games were prominent. That was two decades ago. It hasn’t worked yet.

Fans Want Battlefront 3, Badly
Star Wars may have just gone through a tough time with the sequel trilogy, as they were divisive and overall not critically acclaimed. Still, with shows like The Mandalorian, Andor, and more, things are on the upswing.
There’s love renewed for a galaxy far, far away thanks to games like Star Wars Outlaws and the Jedi series. And there’s anticipation for the announced slate of movies that have yet to be made. This is why fans now feel that there’s a better chance than ever before to convince EA to revive their beloved franchise. Whether it works remains to be seen, but it won’t be for lack of trying.
For now, it looks like DICE, one of the developers of the game franchise, is focusing on Battlefield 6, which will likely tie them up until well beyond this wave of support ends. However, those developers won’t be able to escape all the love and support that’s being shown online (nor will anyone who goes online). You can’t go anywhere on the modern internet without seeing someone asking for this game. That is impressive in the gaming world of 2025.
