Skills and Resource Challenges are on the Rise
Artificial intelligence (AI) is redefining how organizations harness data, enabling innovation, optimizing operations, and uncovering insights that drive competitive advantage. To thrive in this rapidly evolving landscape, organizations must continually adapt by cultivating new skills and attracting top talent.
The growing shortage of professionals skilled in data management and AI implementation presents a significant obstacle for organizations. Without the expertise to effectively harness data or scale AI initiatives, businesses risk vulnerability and missed opportunities for innovation, growth, and efficiency.
As the demand for data-driven decision-making has grown, so has the shortage of skills and resources needed for data management, analytics, and AI.
More respondents this year (42%) say a shortage of skills and resources is one of their biggest data program challenges, compared to 37% in 2023. Sixty percent (60%) of respondents cite a lack of employee skills and training in AI as a primary reason for their unpreparedness for AI initiatives.
This year’s survey also reveals that a shortage of skills and staff (42%) is the biggest challenge hindering organizations from achieving high data quality. This gap in expertise and resources is consistently identified as the primary barrier to maintaining accurate and reliable data.
