Competition for The Sims? These are the first test results for inZOI

So far, fans of life simulations have almost exclusively had one game that could satisfy their joy of micromanaging self-designed characters: The Sims. But now, inZOI is a new title that is challenging the Sims’ autocracy. Expectations are high – as is concern about the possible pricing model. While The Sims has repeatedly been criticized for its expensive additional content, inZOI takes a different approach.

First test results: How good is inZOI really?

The first reports already show: inZOI offers some exciting innovations. In addition to a modern graphic style, the fair pricing model is particularly striking. While The Sims has repeatedly been criticized for expensive additional content, inZOI takes a different approach.

Pricing: No expensive DLCs during Early Access

One of the biggest surprises is inZOI’s pricing model. Unlike The Sims, which only offers essential features such as seasons via expensive DLCs, such content is included here from the start. In addition, the development team has announced that during the Early Access phase, all expansions will remain free. Players only have to pay a one-time fee of €39.99 – with no further in-game purchases. This decision has been well received on platforms like Reddit, with many fans expressing relief. It remains to be seen what will happen after the full release, but a roadmap for 2025 promises plenty of exciting content.

Character creation and graphics: How realistic are the Zois?

Even when creating the game characters – here called “Zois” – it is clear that inZOI is at the cutting edge of technology. While “photorealistic” might be an exaggeration, skilled players can create extremely lifelike characters. Particularly exciting: up to eight Zois can be created at the same time – a feature that creative minds are sure to use to recreate famous personalities or dream families.

Gaming experience: what is virtual life like?

After choosing one of the pre-built cities, the search for accommodation begins. Either players move into a finished house or apartment, or they become the builder themselves and design their home according to their own ideas. There is also flexibility in the construction mode: prefabricated models or a completely free design with individual textiles, walls and designs are available. Two special features stand out and provide more creative freedom.

Does inZOI have what it takes to be a real competitor?

The first tests show: inZOI brings a breath of fresh air to the life simulation genre. With its fair pay-model, impressive customization options and modern graphics, the game has the potential to become a real alternative to The Sims. Whether it can convince in the long term will become clear as Early Access continues.
