Since our launch on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in 2021, Databricks on Google Cloud has provided more than 1,500 joint customers with a tightly integrated experience— bringing together the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform with the scale, flexibility, and innovation of Google Cloud. In support of these joint customers, both Databricks and Google Cloud have experienced accelerated growth in the past year. Databricks has seen over 60% growth YoY in recent quarters, and in Q4 of 2024 Google Cloud generated $12 billion in revenue, a 30% increase YoY. Google Cloud customers purchase billions of dollars in software, data, generative AI, security offerings and more through Google Cloud Marketplace. You can try Databricks on Marketplace, where we average over 400 sign-ups per month. Now we have delivered a series of powerful enhancements that truly empower our customers to combine data and AI at scale on Google Cloud, and unify it with data in other clouds.
Throughout the last four years, our partnership has evolved from a shared vision into a robust platform that drives real-world impact. With a fully serverless experience, native support for open lakehouse architecture, and integration with Google innovations like Gemini and Axion VMs, we’re enabling enterprises to innovate faster, modernize their data stacks, and unlock the full potential of unified data and AI. All of this is seamlessly integrated and governed through Unity Catalog, ensuring consistent access controls and a unified experience across data and AI workloads. We’ve also recently announced a landmark partnership with Anthropic to offer Claude models as first-party options in Databricks, starting with their newest frontier model, Claude 3.7 Sonnet. This enables customers to build and deploy intelligent agents that can reason over their data—directly within their lakehouse. Together with Google Cloud, customers can rapidly build powerful agentic applications grounded in their proprietary data.
Unifying AI and Analytics with a Serverless Experience
To support organizations that want to scale without managing infrastructure, Databricks on Google Cloud now offers a generally available full serverless experience. This includes serverless SQL, Notebooks, Workflows, and DLT pipelines, enabling teams to build and run data workflows instantly with automated resource management and faster start-up times. This serverless foundation also powers a growing suite of generative AI capabilities—including CPU/GPU model serving, Foundation Model APIs, AI Gateway, Vector Search, Serverless AutoML, AI Functions, AI Playground, Lakehouse Monitoring and Agent Framework and Evaluation.
These capabilities help both data teams and business users iterate more quickly, reduce operational overhead, and spend more time focusing on building data and AI applications—not managing infrastructure.
Best-in-Class Integration with Google Cloud AI and Compute
The Databricks Data Intelligence Platform is deeply integrated with Google Cloud’s most advanced technologies, bringing a best-of-both-worlds approach to your data platform. For example, Gemini, Google’s multimodal large language model, integrates easily and securely with Databricks to help teams build intelligent, end-to-end agents across structured and unstructured data. From prompt engineering to vector search, Databricks enables a complete AI workflow—on Google Cloud’s secure and scalable platform. Another example of integration between best-in-class technologies is Databricks support for GCP’s new Axion-based C4A virtual machines, offering significant improvements in price-performance, powered by custom Titanium SSDs. When used in conjunction with Databricks clusters and managed Spark, this hardware enables an improvement of up to 60% in price-performance across complex data processing pipelines compared to the previous generation of general purpose machines.
Seamless Integration with Your Existing Google Cloud Architecture
For many customers, the ability to connect Databricks with native GCP services is critical—and that’s exactly what our joint investments have made possible. Customers can now leverage BigQuery’s first-party support for Delta Lake, enabling a write-once Lakehouse architecture integrated with BigQuery queries. And with BigQuery Federation via Unity Catalog, our customers can standardize on an open, Lakehouse-ready governance layer across their existing GCP data stack, while maintaining consistent cataloging and data lineage across both platforms.
Driving Customer Value
Companies across industries are using Databricks on Google Cloud to transform their business with data and AI.
“Running Databricks on Google Cloud has streamlined how we scale AI across our business. With tools like Lakehouse Federation and Unity Catalog, we’ve reduced technical debt, improved governance, and accelerated model experimentation–all on a secure, unified platform.”
— Sachin Kulshrestha, Global ML Engineering and Ops Lead, Mondelēz
Digital Turbine uses Databricks on Google Cloud to know their customers better.
“By optimizing our SQL queries with Databricks SQL Serverless and working with our Google partners, we’ve saved tens of thousands of dollars per month in hosting costs and in overall Databricks usage.”
— Dan Ferrante, Director of Data Management, Digital Turbine
Uplight uses Databricks on Google Cloud to launch services in half the time.
“We’re running 30,000 Spark jobs per month on Databricks to ingest, prepare and analyze our data. By using Databricks MLflow and Vertex AI, we’ve halved development time for new services and accelerated the rollout of new predictive machine learning (ML) models.”
— Daniel Coll, Senior Data Engineer, Uplight
See What’s Next at Google Cloud Next ‘25
We’re just getting started! Join us at Google Cloud Next 2025 to see how Databricks and Google Cloud are driving the next wave of data intelligence, together. Databricks is a proud Signature Sponsor at Next ‘25, where we will showcase how enterprises can unlock the full potential of data and AI with Databricks on Google Cloud. We’ll be hosting a session on the power of data intelligence with Digital Turbine, speaking on an Enterprise AI panel with Google Cloud, Anthropic, Oracle, and SAP, sharing about the price-performance and efficiency benefits in the Google Axion VMs session, and highlighting data democratization best practices on a partner panel. Visit us at our Booth #1930 or register to attend our customer reception.
