Europa Universalis 5 is shaping up to be a bold step forward for the historical grand strategy series, as it doubles down on simulation to the detriment of boardgame-style mechanics. With a plethora of detailed pops to rule over as you explore, conquer, trade, while also engaging in diplomacy and politics, fans new and old are likely wondering if EU5 is going to be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Paradox’s flagship series has made the PC its home in the past with none of its previous entries making the jump over to consoles. Now, while that might be the case, the publisher has warmed up to multiplatform releases for its grand strategy games in the last couple of years, as exemplified by Stellaris and Crusader Kings 3.
Europa Universalis 5 PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Release
EUV’s grand unveiling confirmed that it is in development for PC, but no signs currently point towards a potential PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release.
- Europa Universalis V PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release: To be confirmed
Although this could mean that Europa Universalis V won’t benefit from a simultaneous PC and console launch, we could still see it ported in the future.
As mentioned above, Paradox has shown interest in making its historical grand strategy games available on consoles and has managed to do so with two of its core franchises so far.
We could see EUV launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S after its PC version is out in the wild. Whether or not that will actually happen (or how long it might take) is hard to say without official confirmation from the publisher.
There is also the possibility of a console version being in development and kept under wraps, although that does seem highly unlikely. Were that the case, there’s a good chance it would have been included in the title’s official reveal.
That is what we know so far about whether or not Europa Universalis V is going to be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
