Making the Game Accessible to All – Finding God in Video Games

The Nintendo Wii certainly had many highlights during it’s run, but the one game that definitively determined the success of this unique console was “Wii Sports”. The simplicity and accessibility of playing games like tennis, bowling, and boxing not only gave us one of the most popular games of all time, it gave gamers an accessible way to share their hobby with friends, parents, and even grandparents who might’ve never picked up a controller otherwise. Wii Sports made it easy for everyone to participate regardless of their skill level… we just needed to bring it to them so they could experience it and see for themselves.

As followers of Christ, we have both the privilege and the responsibility to bring His message to others in all of its’ simplicity, but when we overcomplicate His grace, love, mercy, and forgiveness we make approaching Him harder than He designed it to be. While pursuing the full depth of knowing the Lord and growing in Him is a lifelong journey, Jesus paid the price of access in full so the initial path to Him could be simple and free. Jesus was welcoming to all who came to Him with open minds, sincere hearts, and a desire for truth, so let’s share the Lord today in the same manner that Jesus did during His earthly ministry by making a relationship with God accessible to all. He WANTS to be found.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. Acts 17:27
