Next Battlefield on course for Summer 2025 reveal, EA confirms

Electronic Arts (EA) has published its latest financial report, presenting the numbers from the final quarter of FY2025 and the entire past fiscal year. In the report, CEO Andrew Wilson has confirmed that the next Battlefield game is on course for a reveal in Summer 2025 and launch inside FY2026, meaning until the end of March 2026.

“As we look to the future, we’re confident in our ability to execute across a deep pipeline — beginning this summer with the highly anticipated reveal of Battlefield, a pivotal step in delivering on our next generation of blockbuster entertainment,” Wilson stated.

EA has an entire group of studios working on the upcoming first-person shooter and is currently conducting its largest-ever tests during the game’s development to ensure that it appeals to the franchise’s fans.

Wilson previously said that the community’s “response to the play test and the Battlefield Labs initiative has been overwhelmingly positive and well beyond our expectations.”

The as-yet-untitled shooter is currently being developed jointly by DICE, Criterion, Motive, and Ripple Effect. “It is the biggest Battlefield we will ever build or at least we have ever built. It exists on an incredible scale, both in terms of breadth and depth of gameplay,” Wilson said.

EA also confirmed that co-op game Split Fiction has been a massive success for them, selling close to four million copies since its release in March 2025.

Credit for EA’s robust numbers, however, were given to the EA Sports portfolio and The Sims. “The incredible success of College Football and the enduring strength of FC drove another record year for EA Sports, while The Sims capped FY25 with a historic Q4,” Wilson stated.

EA Sports titles delivered record net bookings in FY25 with American Football alone reaching over $1 billion USD in this category. EA FC, which suffered a bit of a setback last year, posted strong recovery numbers, the report emphasizing that “player monetization was up double digits” following gameplay updates in January 2025.

For FY2026, EA expects its live-service segment to grow thanks to sports games and The Sims, which are supposed to offset the expected decline of Apex Legends and a faltering catalog. EA also looks to the releases of Battlefield and Skate for additional revenues. Looking further, the company has teased “the launch of new non-annual titles” in FY2027.

More EA on DBLTAP:

Since Star Wars Zero Company has not found any mention in the FY2026 forecast, the recently revealed turn-based tactics game coming in 2026 might be released after April and count as one of FY2027’s non-annual titles — though it’s possible that EA simply doesn’t expect the title to move the needle in terms of revenue and so neglected to mention it.
