We’ve known for a while that Respawn, among others, has been working on a tactical game in the vein of XCOM. Now the cat is out of the bag, and it’s called Star Wars Zero Company.
BitReactor’s new Star Wars game (supported by Respawn) has been revealed: It’s called Star Wars Zero Company and will be fully revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2025 on April 19. In advance, we already have the title and a first key artwork that reveals a lot.
For example, we see some of the characters:
- A Clone Trooper in Phase 1 armor, which suggests that the game is set somewhere in the early Clone Wars.
- A Tognathian Jedi. A prominent member of this culture can be seen in Rogue One alongside partisan leader Saw Gerrera.
- A Mandalorian in classic armor.
- A dude in some kind of astronaut suit.
- An R-series droid, probably R5, who is likely to play a supporting role in the game.
You can also see a kind of villain character in the middle holding the hologram of a Trade Federation Battle Droid. So: everything points to Zero Company actually taking place during the Clone Wars.
Previous leaks point to an XCOM game
The previous leaks pointed in a slightly different direction, because the first screenshots show the fight against clone troops, which in turn suggests a game sometime after Order 66. But these images are from 2023, so you are seeing an extremely early version of the game that most likely works with placeholders.

The images still reveal a lot. Star Wars Zero Company will be an XCOM-like tactical game for single-player fans, occupying , one of the few niches that Star Wars has left untouched so far You’ll lead your squad into tactical battles, most likely against the Confederate armies. From the keyboard overlays, you can also tell that it is most likely a real mainstream game for the big platforms and not a mobile game.
In addition, there are classic features of all XCOMs: Overwatch visibility, different attack skills, a base for working out new strategies, and much more.
What you can expect in concrete terms, you will learn, as I said, at the latest on April 19, 2025 during the Star Wars Celebration. We’ll be covering the event over the entire Easter weekend, so check back regularly at GlobalESportNews and you won’t miss a trailer or an important announcement. Sweet of us, isn’t it?
